Child Development, Early Education and Family Studies

玩耍的孩子The Child Development and Family Studies Program will prepare you for a career focused on children, youth and families from diverse cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds and abilities. Curriculums are focused on theoretical and ecological work with children from birth through adolescence, within a broad context of families, socio-cultural networks, 社区, 社会影响.

The program offers two bachelor’s degrees, and one master of arts in teaching (M.A.T):

  • 理学士(理学学士.S.) - Child Development and Family Studies (Child Development and Family Relations) - 这个课程 prepares you to become a North Carolina state certified child care provider and administrator, and provides the option of becoming a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations.
  • 理学士(理学学士.S.) - Child Development and Family Studies (Child Development, Early Education and Family Studies - B-K Licensure - 这个课程 prepares you for teaching young children (from birth through 5 years). Graduates earn the North Carolina B-K Licensure and other early childhood credentials necessary to teach infants, 蹒跚学步的, 学龄前儿童, and kindergarteners (with and without disabilities), and for work with young children and their families in multiple caregiving environments.
  • Masters of 艺术 in Teaching (M.A.T.) - Child Development Early Education And Family Studies (Birth-Kindergarten) – 这个课程 develops professional early childhood teachers, 管理员, and re搜索ers focused on child development from birth to kindergarten. Coursework includes lifespan human development, 家庭研究, 社会学, 社会工作, elementary and special education, 心理学, 演讲, and health and physical education. Undergraduate students will observe and participate in field work with young children and families in a variety of real-life settings, 包括 N.C. The teacher licensure degree in Child Development Early Education and Family Studies (Birth-Kindergarten) is accredited by the National Council for the 认证 of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The curriculum for the Child Development and Family Studies program is approved by the National Council for Family Relations for the Certified Family Life Educator designation. The 儿童发展实验室oratory (CDL) is licensed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and has a 5-Star Rating.
